Post pandemic, I have focused my efforts on helping those of us who may be experiencing a mid to later life stage transition, where we may be contemplating our age and concerns over the coronavirus, our inevitable mortality and what we can do about it. For those of us aged 50 and above, the pandemic has focused our attention on our vulnerability to infection. What is the best defence against any virus? Nothing can provide 100% protection, but irrespective of a vaccine, taking steps to ensure that your immune system is functioning at its best is now clearly a priority.
During and after both lockdowns, there has been little or no healthcare advice for those of us aged 50 plus other than to go and get vaccinated. Then get vaccinated again. Then get boosted. This was obviously important, but as we get older, how we exercise, what we eat and our mental health, are all as important and major contributory factors that impact not only upon how we look, feel and perform, but also on our natural immunity and ability to resist illness and infection. Age specific lifestyle management is paramount. This may sound obvious, but what’s important to understand is that non-specific physical, nutritional and psychological development will not produce specific results.
My lifestyle management model integrates 4 individual modules:
1. Mindset development to support mental health, encouraging self-belief, motivation and a renewed sense of purpose
2. Age-specific exercise programmes and activities consistent with improving aesthetic appearance, functional movement and physical performance
3. Weight-loss through wellness. How to eat for immunity, energy and longevity through a common sense approach to what you eat, when you eat and how you eat
4. Time management planning to help challenge life’s distractions, make the most of your now, increase your productivity and help you to get more done.
